The School of Music provides graduate programs culminating in Master of Arts degrees with specializations in ethnomusicology, music history (musicology), music education, and music theory. It also offers Master of Music degrees in performance, composition, conducting, and music education. Doctoral programs include the Ph.D. in ethnomusicology, musicology, music education, and music theory, as well as the Doctor of Musical Arts degree with concentrations in composition, performance, and conducting.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
