The Undergraduate Elementary Education Program is a four-year professional training curriculum that qualifies graduates for Maryland elementary teaching certification. This program prepares future educators to address modern classroom demands by training them to support diverse learners. Graduates will: possess thorough content expertise in their teaching subjects, skillfully design classroom lessons, evaluate student progress, adapt teaching methods, track learning outcomes, and positively impact all students' academic growth. They'll also demonstrate the ability to collaborate with students, families, and communities while upholding the professional standards outlined by educational institutions, state requirements, and the teaching profession.
High school students and students with fewer than 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of university-level credit beyond secondary school should apply as freshman applicants.
