The Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) undergraduate program combines insights from economics and political science to explore fundamental societal questions typically examined in philosophy: How can we coexist harmoniously? What constitutes the ideal structure for our social and political systems? What approaches should we take to solve major challenges like inequality, prejudice, migration, and environmental crises? This interdisciplinary field matters because today's most urgent issues demand multifaceted solutions. While philosophy has long engaged with such questions, resolving them requires going beyond philosophical inquiry alone. Tomorrow's decision-makers and community members must understand ethical principles, logical frameworks, and epistemology (philosophy); governance structures and group dynamics (politics); along with market systems, analytical models, and decision theory (economics). The PPE curriculum develops these critical thinking skills. By applying economic and political science methodologies to complex societal issues, we equip students with an expanded analytical toolkit to confront global challenges more effectively.
High school students and students with fewer than 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of university-level credit beyond secondary school should apply as freshman applicants.
