Students may qualify for advanced standing in the MSW program if they hold a BSW from a CSWE-accredited institution, satisfy the advanced standing admission requirements outlined in application materials, and receive approval from the Admissions Committee. Those granted advanced standing must complete three summer bridge courses (each worth two credits) delivered online before progressing to the advanced curriculum. Admissions for advanced standing occur annually in May. This accelerated track requires completion of 46 credit hours, with options for either a one-year full-time schedule or a two-year extended plan at UMaine's Orono campus. Distance learning alternatives are also offered for advanced standing candidates.
