The Department of Art provides Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degrees in Studio Art. For the B.A. program, students simply need to apply to UMaine without any extra admission criteria. Those enrolled in the B.A. can transition to the B.F.A. program starting from their fourth semester.
The B.F.A. in Studio Art is a specialized professional degree offering six focus areas: Drawing, Digital Media, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Cross-Disciplinary Studies. Every concentration requires 18 credits of advanced studio coursework, with the Cross-Disciplinary option enabling students to create a personalized curriculum by blending skills from multiple disciplines.
