The University of Maine's Zoology degree requires on-campus attendance because our curriculum emphasizes practical laboratory and fieldwork. This program isn't available for remote completion. Students in the Zoology program examine animal biology across multiple scales - from cellular processes to whole organisms - while exploring evolutionary patterns, biodiversity contributions, and ecological relationships. Beyond absorbing existing knowledge, zoology education teaches research methodologies to expand our understanding of animal biology and address challenges in medicine, agriculture, and environmental science. Graduates can enter diverse fields including healthcare (both human and veterinary), scientific research, education, environmental conservation, and private sector consulting.
