The Department of Art provides Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degrees in Studio Art. For the B.A. program, students simply need to apply to UMaine without any extra admission criteria. Those enrolled in the B.A. can transition to the B.F.A. program starting from their fourth semester onward.
The B.F.A. in Studio Art is a specialized professional degree offering six focus areas: Drawing, Digital Media, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Cross-Disciplinary Studies. Every concentration requires 18 credits of advanced studio coursework, with the Cross-Disciplinary option enabling students to craft a personalized curriculum by blending skills from various disciplines. All B.F.A. candidates collaborate with their academic advisors to select and guide their concentration coursework.
