The Latin Studies certificate program, comprising four sequential courses in Latin language and literature, specifically targets two student groups. First, it serves graduate students requiring advanced Latin proficiency for disciplines where Latin is essential - not just classical studies but also history, philosophy, theology, and related fields. These students, whether currently pursuing or planning advanced studies, will benefit from an intensive, interdisciplinary approach to mastering Latin efficiently. Second, the program focuses on preparing future Latin instructors for secondary and even middle school levels. This curriculum proves particularly valuable for aspiring Latin teachers by offering more comprehensive language and literary immersion than traditional training programs, ensuring graduates develop not only reading comprehension but also significant active language skills.
