The KU Chemistry department features faculty committed to guiding both undergraduate and graduate students toward scientific proficiency. Beyond mandatory classroom and lab coursework, students can engage in cutting-edge research across diverse chemistry fields, such as microfluidics, precision medicine, and sustainable catalysis.
Our undergraduate program serves two key purposes: equipping chemistry majors with deep disciplinary expertise for advanced study or immediate career entry, while also enabling students from other fields to gain foundational chemistry knowledge.
The American Chemical Society-approved Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program offers comprehensive chemistry training alongside mathematics, physics, and biochemistry coursework, preparing graduates for professional chemistry careers. The more flexible Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) program requires fewer chemistry courses, allowing students to explore interdisciplinary interests or customize their chemistry focus. Additionally, we provide a chemistry minor for those pursuing complementary academic interests.
