Students can pursue either a B.A. or B.S. in chemistry, both allowing diverse minor options across Arts & Sciences and other disciplines. Our Chemistry and Biochemistry Department provides four distinct undergraduate degree paths. The B.S. programs best serve students aiming for research-focused chemistry or biochemistry careers, while B.A. options deliver robust scientific foundations for healthcare professions, education, or commercial fields. The undergraduate advisor offers career guidance and helps navigate course selection and degree completion. Honors College students can access specialized courses in general and organic chemistry. We strongly recommend motivated chemistry/biochemistry majors undertake faculty-supervised research projects, gaining hands-on experience with advanced methodologies and instrumentation. The department hosts vibrant student chapters of both the American Chemical Society (ACS) and American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).
