The physics and earth-space science teaching programs are separate tracks designed for aspiring educators who want to teach these subjects to middle and high school students (grades 5-12). Our curriculum merges core science classes with pedagogical training from the Education Department, keeping pace with advancements in STEM disciplines. These majors provide both deep subject matter expertise in either physics or earth-space science and practical classroom teaching skills.
For middle/high school certification, students must complete 60.5 physics-related credit hours or 45.5 earth-space science credit hours, plus required education coursework. The full program can be finished within four years, with dual advising support—one advisor from the Physics & Earth-Space Science Department and another from Teacher Education—to guide students through degree requirements.
