The Associate in Science for Transfer Physics degree (AS-T) equips students aiming for a bachelor's in physics or engineering with essential lower-division courses needed to transfer into California State University (CSU). By completing at least 60 units of degree coursework—including major and general education requirements—with a minimum 2.0 GPA, students gain guaranteed CSU admission. All major courses must be passed with a C grade or higher. Physics explores matter, energy, and their interactions through observation and mathematical analysis, covering mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, sound, and thermodynamics. Quantum theory forms the foundation of modern physics, encompassing atomic, nuclear, particle, and condensed matter research.
An AS in Physics serves as a solid foundation for advanced studies and careers in physics, engineering, astronomy, geology, chemistry, biophysics, science communication, education, and other physical science disciplines.
