The Applied Master of Science in Statistics program is designed for doctoral candidates in other disciplines who want to strengthen their statistical expertise and credentials by earning a complementary Statistics degree alongside their primary PhD studies. To enroll in this program, applicants must first gain admission to a University of Illinois PhD program in another discipline.
The Applied MS degree with specialization requires completion of nine courses totaling 36 graduate credit hours, with a minimum of 12 credits at the 500-level. For additional details not covered here, students should reach out to the Statistics Department's Director of Graduate Studies.
As part of the Applied MS in Statistics program requirements, students must complete at least one semester by temporarily transferring to the Statistics Department before returning to their primary degree program.
