The Department of Plant Biology provides three graduate degree pathways: Master of Science programs (including both thesis and non-thesis options), a non-thesis Plant Biotechnology M.S. with Professional Science Master's (PSM) specialization, and a Ph.D. program. The department also collaborates in an interdisciplinary doctoral program in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology. Students may additionally engage with various non-degree interdisciplinary initiatives and interest groups, including the Cell and Molecular Biology Training Program, during their studies. For the Plant Biology Thesis track: The decision to pursue a thesis for the M.S. degree is made jointly with the student's advisor. Typically completed in two years, this program requires a minimum of 32 semester hours of graduate-level coursework and research, planned in coordination with a faculty advisor.
