The Applied Geology Option also grants an M.S. in Geology degree. This program caters to students aiming for careers in applied geoscience fields like engineering geology, hydrogeology, applied geophysics, or environmental geology. Students without academic deficiencies can typically finish in approximately 1.5 years, though most complete it in 2 years. Unlike traditional programs, this option doesn't require thesis writing. Since many employers prefer thesis-based master's degrees, this path is less frequently chosen. Currently, we're not enrolling new students in the non-thesis master's program. Interested students must declare their intention to follow the non-thesis track at least one semester before fulfilling degree requirements, with approval required from the Department Head.
