The Department of Geology provides graduate programs for the Master of Science in Geology, Doctor of Philosophy in Geology, and Master of Science in Earth Science Education. Students enjoy diverse course selections and research opportunities across geological disciplines, including geochemistry and geophysics. The Master of Science program offers both thesis and non-thesis (applied geology) tracks. The non-thesis path serves as a final degree for professionals entering environmental geology, engineering geology, or applied geophysics fields, though new admissions for this option are currently paused. Enrolled students must indicate their non-thesis preference at least one semester before fulfilling degree requirements. These programs equip students with comprehensive geological knowledge, practical industry skills, research experience, and often teaching practice.
