Enrolled in Western Michigan University's hydrogeology certificate program, you'll acquire hands-on field experience along with technical and analytical expertise to excel in hydrogeology and environmental geology careers. The curriculum covers aquifer testing methods, contamination movement and cleanup strategies, well drilling and construction techniques, plus near-surface geophysical applications. Participants will master sampling procedures for water, soil, gas, and sediments while developing skills in field geochemistry, technical writing, accurate data recording, field documentation, scientific presentations, and data interpretation. Blending online coursework during the academic year with intensive summer field sessions, the program equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical abilities to perform field operations while honing their technical proficiency and analytical thinking.
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
