The Master of Fine Arts in Art and Design program equips talented individuals for exceptional accomplishments in their chosen professional field. Specializations offered encompass Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Photography, Metalwork, Ceramics, and an interdisciplinary Studio track featuring concentrations in Painting, Sculpture, and New Media. Students must complete at least 64 graduate credit hours to earn the M.F.A. degree. All disciplines provide dedicated studio spaces and specialized resources necessary for a top-tier professional education. For Graphic Design, Photography, Metalwork, Ceramics, and the interdisciplinary Studio program (including Painting, Sculpture, and New Media), graduation requirements include a creative exhibition, a committee-approved written thesis, and thesis submission to the School of Art and Design's graduate office. Industrial Design candidates must present a graduation exhibition, submit a committee-approved thesis, and deposit their work with the Graduate College Thesis Office. Admission decisions for all programs are based on faculty evaluation of the applicant's creative portfolio, academic history, professional experience, recommendation letters, and other notable accomplishments indicating potential for success in the program.
