The Master of Fine Arts in Digital Media Design is a tailored three-year graduate program offering close mentorship from faculty as students cultivate their individual creative pursuits. Housed within a leading public research university, UConn's Digital Media & Design Department bridges art, technology, science, and humanities. This program caters to applicants with proven digital media/design experience seeking rigorous advanced study and research in their specialization or through interdisciplinary approaches across digital media fields. As part of the School of Fine Arts, DMD fosters collaborations between students, faculty, industry professionals, and university researchers.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants for the M.F.A. degree must complete the online application to the Graduate School, which includes:
Three letters of recommendation
A personal statement of purpose (personal letter of application) detailing why you want to attend this particular program, which faculty you would want to work with, and how you see the program furthering your creative and/or career goals
Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate level studies mailed to UConn from the providing institution

M.F.A. Portfolio
Applicants for the M.F.A. degree must submit a portfolio through SlideRoom showcasing the applicant's readiness to engage in advanced creative activity and research within one of the DMD specializations: (3D Animation, Digital Culture, Digital Film/Video Production, Digital Media Business Strategies, Game Design, Motion Design & Animation, or Web/Interactive Media Design) or in an interdisciplinary capacity across the DMD specializations.
The M.F.A. portfolio must include:
A creative research / artist statement (500 words)
10-15 examples of work in the form of videos, still images, audio files, or website links

A cumulative GPA for their most recent degree of 3.0 or higher for the entire degree
Minimum overall scores of 79 (Internet-based test – iBT/ iBT Home Edition), 550 (Old Paper-based test – PBT) or 22/30 on each of the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections (''New'' Paper-based test- PBT) or higher on the TOEFL test. (TOEFL Essentials is not accepted.)
Personal Statement
A minimum overall score of 6.5 or higher on the IELTS Academic Test
A minimum overall score of 53 or higher on the PTE Test.
