The Department of Entomology provides advanced degree programs for both Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy candidates. These programs welcome students with varying levels of entomology knowledge. Their objective is to give students a solid foundation in insect-related biological principles while developing specialized skills for careers in research, teaching, and entomology-related services. Specialization options cover diverse fields such as insect classification, evolutionary studies, genetic research, chemical ecology, population dynamics, toxicology, nervous system studies, growth processes, animal behavior, social insect biology, hormone research, and pest control strategies. Ph.D. candidates must demonstrate broad knowledge across ecological, genetic, classification, physiological, and pest management aspects of entomology. Additionally, they must show expertise in their chosen specialization by completing original thesis research under faculty guidance and committee approval.
