Doctoral candidates must complete preliminary testing within five academic semesters (excluding summer sessions) after fulfilling core course requirements. This evaluation includes both written and oral sections, with the oral defense focusing on the research proposal. Participants in the BA-to-PhD track must additionally clear a Qualifying Examination. A satisfactory doctoral thesis is mandatory, adhering to the Graduate College's residency standards.
