Our programs provide Master's and Doctoral degrees in Crop Science and Soil Science, allowing students to concentrate their research on numerous specialized fields within these areas. In Crop Science, active research topics encompass plant genetics, genomic studies, molecular breeding, turfgrass management, and herbicide science. Research involves crops such as wheat, forage plants, barley, unconventional grains (including quinoa, spelt, and oats), pulse crops, and brassica species. The Soil Science curriculum emphasizes studies in soil microbiology, biogeochemical cycles, fertilizer optimization, root zone dynamics, and unsaturated zone water movement. Faculty in both disciplines also spearhead joint investigations into organic farming, sustainable practices, precision agriculture, and crop rotation strategies. Additional study opportunities include agricultural extension and rural community studies.
