The Sciences and Letters programs cover classic liberal arts and sciences majors, along with customized study plans, interdisciplinary fields, and global studies.
Students pursuing majors in actuarial science, astronomy, atmospheric sciences, chemistry, Earth systems, geology, integrative biology, mathematics, math-computer science, molecular biology, physics, psychology, statistics, or statistics-computer science earn a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences.
The Physics Major (Sciences and Letters) offers adaptable coursework for students aiming for technical or professional careers requiring strong physical science and math foundations. This program prepares graduates for immediate employment or advanced studies across various disciplines. Those intending to pursue physics or related graduate studies might also explore the LAS Specialized Physics Curriculum. However, the Science and Letters Curriculum's flexibility often better serves students seeking combined majors, double degrees, or customized academic paths. Physics majors must select an approved technical or professional specialization by sophomore year's end. With department approval, students may create personalized study tracks. Those completing the Astrophysics specialization can earn an Astronomy minor by submitting the required documentation.
