Individuals who don't hold a master's in social work or possess a graduate degree in another discipline can enroll in a combined program earning both M.S.W. and Ph.D. degrees. This curriculum prepares graduates for academic roles, research involvement, and senior administrative positions. Separate applications and fees are required for each program. Once admitted to this intensive full-time program, students typically complete the dual MSW/PhD curriculum in about 3.5 years, with a potential two-year extension for finishing the doctoral dissertation. Both programs require GRE scores, which must be less than five years old when submitted before application deadlines. First-year students are encouraged to concentrate on MSW classes, followed by a second year blending both programs' courses, with the final two years dedicated solely to PhD studies.
