Social work is an evolving field dedicated to addressing the shifting needs of people, families, communities, organizations, and society at large. For those drawn to this meaningful vocation, social work provides diverse opportunities across various environments: mental health centers, senior care facilities, hospitals, educational institutions, workplace support programs, family counseling services, and local nonprofits. Professional social workers also hold leadership roles in social service organizations and contribute to government, academia, and even political office. The comprehensive training from a Master of Social Work (MSW) program equips graduates with versatile skills for numerous career paths in this expansive field. The School of Social Work's MSW program holds accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). At IU Bloomington, the Advanced Standing Accelerated option is exclusively full-time, with classes beginning each May.
