Social workers commit themselves to assisting individuals in enhancing their quality of life. At the Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work, students acquire essential competencies to support individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities, fostering environments where all can thrive. Graduates from the University of Oklahoma's social work program find employment across diverse organizations, serving varied populations. Constructed in 2011, Anne and Henry Zarrow Hall was designed to meet the expanding needs of OU's Social Work program, featuring cutting-edge classrooms, communal areas, and an advanced simulation lab where students refine their professional abilities.
The social work curriculum provides practical training via field placements tailored to students' interests. Beyond the year-long senior practicum, the school offers multiple educational initiatives, including collaborations with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services through the Child Welfare Professional Enhancement Program, strengthening child welfare services. Through the Social Work Aging Program, students receive guidance from seasoned professionals to develop specialized skills for supporting older adults and their caregivers. Additionally, students can engage in community research initiatives at the Knee Center for Strong Families, housed within Zarrow Hall.
