The Department of Biology & Biochemistry provides graduate studies in Biochemistry and Biology, offering both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. The Biology program features three specialized pathways: a Biomedical Sciences Certificate option, a Cell and Molecular Biology concentration, and an Ecology and Evolution focus. The Biomedical Sciences Certificate is exclusively available alongside a non-thesis Master's in Biology.
These graduate programs align with the department's three core divisions: Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, and Ecology and Evolution. While each division maintains comparable degree requirements for M.S. and Ph.D. candidates, specific criteria may vary. Every division is supervised by a Policy Leader—a faculty member tasked with guiding students' academic progress until they select a thesis or dissertation advisor.
