The Master of Science in Biochemistry program offers focused study in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, or bioorganic chemistry. This degree prepares students for research-focused roles in biotech, chemical industries, academic teaching positions, or progression into doctoral studies. Our Chemistry and Biochemistry Department delivers challenging academic programs at both undergraduate and master's levels, equipping graduates for achievements in medical, industrial, and scholarly fields. Students can pursue ACS-accredited Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry or Biochemistry, or opt for a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. Additionally, learners from other disciplines can complement their major with a Chemistry minor. The department also provides research-intensive Master of Science programs in both Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Qualification Requirements

In addition to general University requirements for admission, a bachelor's degree with a 3.0 or higher overall GPA and a major in Chemistry, Biochemistry or other area with the appropriate science content is recommended. Applicants with an overall GPA between 2.75 and 3.0 must additionally submit GRE scores (from the general test).
Foreign students must submit a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based test) or 79 (internet-based test) to demonstrate their proficiency in the English language.

Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in all units attempted as an undergraduate, or
Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the last 60 semester/90 quarter units attempted from all post-secondary institutions attended.
