IPEF is an interdisciplinary initiative centered on modern social practices and pressing societal concerns. The program fosters cooperative community involvement via independent and collective research, hands-on fieldwork, and immersive location-based education. Participants investigate artistic social practice, site-responsive work, environmental studies, public realm interventions, urban/land advocacy, and diverse cultural investigations. This 60-credit, three-year curriculum features an evolving educational approach with core instructors, guest artists/thinkers, and local collaborators. IPEF participants interact with Houston's historic Third Ward neighborhood, the broader Houston/Gulf Coast area, Texas regions, and global communities through cross-disciplinary, deeply engaged experiences.
