The MFA Fine Arts program operates on the principle that artists play a vital societal role. This interdisciplinary program fosters diverse studio practices alongside academic research and scholarship. Students can choose from multiple approaches, spanning aesthetic exploration to sociopolitical involvement. The program attracts individuals from varied cultural backgrounds working across mediums like painting, sculpture, digital media, performance, photography, and installation art.
The intensive coursework combines individual studio sessions, group critiques, theory seminars, tailored classes, and professional development workshops, alongside writing and research components. Elective options enable students to leverage resources from other Parsons departments and New School colleges, including distinguished graduate programs in urban studies, media studies, and social sciences.
Alumni pursue careers in various art-related fields including studio practice, arts administration, curation, museum management, art criticism, consulting, and higher education instruction.

Qualification Requirements
Graduate degree applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited American college or university or the equivalent degree from a foreign college or university. Applicants in the process of completing the bachelor's degree may apply for admission. Admission to the program requires completion of the bachelor's degree.
