The University of Houston's Master of Arts program in Speech Language Pathology holds accreditation from the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, part of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Consequently, the Communication Sciences and Disorders MA equips students with both the academic foundation and practical training needed to pursue ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and obtain Texas licensure for speech pathology practice. Graduates of this program meet the qualifications to sit for the national Praxis Speech Language Pathology examination and commence their clinical fellowships - the concluding requirements for achieving full CCC certification.
