The MSW program equips aspiring social workers with advanced skills to serve individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities across four specialized areas: child and family services, behavioral mental health, healthcare, and gerontology.
After completing the Master of Social Work degree and submitting all required documentation to the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs - including passing the ASWB Masters exam - graduates qualify for Hawaii state licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW). Note that the University of Hawaii at Mānoa's Thompson School of Social Work & Public Health cannot guarantee program compatibility with licensure requirements in other states, and advises students to consult their desired state's licensing board for specific regulations.
