The composition program introduces students to diverse multicultural influences while honing their technical skills. Composition students are urged to work with multiple faculty members, gaining varied insights and critiques on their work. This method helps students extract valuable elements from each mentor to cultivate their distinct creative style. Composers Workshops serve as a platform for collaboration and exploration of contemporary music and related topics. A state-of-the-art music technology lab, equipped with computer notation, multimedia, and MIDI capabilities, is available to student composers. While UH Mnoa doesn't focus on electronic or computer music, we actively support students in utilizing technological resources to enhance their compositional abilities.
