The School Psychology program offers a comprehensive full-time curriculum spanning three years, combining coursework with hands-on practicum experiences to earn both a Master of Science Degree and a Sixth-Year Certificate. This specialized program equips school psychologists with the skills to support children, families, and educational institutions, focusing on enhancing learning and developmental outcomes. Its core objective is to train expert practitioners capable of addressing critical service needs, including Assessment and Diagnosis, Counseling and Psychotherapy, as well as Consultation and Collaboration.
Students complete this rigorous program in three academic years, graduating with a Master of Science in School Psychology and a Sixth-Year Professional Certificate. Based in the Department of Psychology within the College of Arts and Sciences, the program is affiliated with the School of Education's Certification Council. It maintains accreditation from the Connecticut State Department of Education and holds national recognition through the National Association of School Psychologists and National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education partnership (NASP/NCATE).
You must hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in psychology from an accredited collegiate institution and should have achieved at least a B average in undergraduate courses.
International applicants are preferred to be proficient in English — or have TOEFL, PTE or IELTS if you are not a native speaker of the English Language. Average TOEFL scores for students range from a minimum of 80 (Internet Based Total), and 550 (Paper Based Total). The minimum score for the PTE is a 58. IELTS minimum score for graduate studies is 6.5.
