Western Michigan University's Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology program offers specialized training in psychopathology, psychological evaluation, counseling theories, therapeutic techniques, and practical fieldwork. This curriculum equips students for careers in diverse mental health environments while meeting Michigan's requirements for limited psychology licensure. The 48-credit program can be finished in two years by full-time students.
Administered by WMU's Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology, this program fulfills educational certification standards. Successful graduates qualify for Michigan's limited psychologist license and benefit from the program's accreditation by the American Psychological Association's Commission on Accreditation.
Admission to the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology is based upon grade point average, educational background, counseling and/or related experiences, as well as other factors.
