The Music Composition department provides undergraduate and graduate degree options along with a minor program. Students receive personalized mentorship to help them develop their unique musical voice. With faculty members specializing in various disciplines, learners can access tailored support to cultivate their artistic identity. The curriculum covers a broad spectrum including classical concert pieces, film scores, theatrical compositions, improvisation, and cutting-edge modern techniques, exposing students to diverse musical styles. Weekly composition seminars create a forum for sharing works, receiving feedback, and exploring pieces by guest artists. After completing foundational courses in their first year, students engage in three years of one-on-one instruction with composition professors, ensuring a structured and rigorous educational journey.

Qualification Requirements
Graduate applicants must submit two or three examples of your work with the application. These will be reviewed ahead of your scheduled audition/interview day by the composition faculty. They will use these compositions as the basis for the conversation that develops during your interview.
All new, incoming graduate students will take placement exams during the week of orientation to determine the appropriate course of study and whether subject review courses are necessary.
Complete an audition and interview*. All applicants will have an interview within their major's department or with their audition panel. Applicants to all graduate music education programs will also complete a brief music skills assessment test.

Repertoire list: Required for all auditioning applicants
Preliminary Video and Portfolio Submission
Three letters of recommendation
Transcripts from all higher education institutions attended

PTE: minimum overall score of 58
TOEFL: minimum overall score of 80 (internet based total), and 550 (Paper-based test PBT Total).
