Hartt's flute program offers an immersive curriculum that pushes and inspires performers to grow. To enhance teaching abilities, the Hartt flute studio implements a mentorship program connecting undergraduate students with graduate flutists. They collaborate for at least two weekly hours, practicing duets, addressing technique challenges, and exchanging research insights with a partner. This allows graduate students to hone their instructional methods before graduation, while undergraduates receive valuable individualized support between lessons and build connections faster within the flute community.

Partnerships change every month, fostering a genuinely cooperative environment where all students interact. The studio cultivates a supportive, team-oriented culture where participants gain more through peer collaboration than solitary practice. Beyond core coursework, performance majors focus on three key areas: artistic presentation, teaching methodology, and professional preparation. Students gain extensive stage experience through solo, chamber, and ensemble performances. Pedagogy courses equip all instrumental performance majors with essential private teaching skills. Discover details about Hartt's flute program, including admission criteria, audition expectations, and faculty profiles for both undergraduate and graduate studies.
