Merging intensive conservatory training with a strong music education base, this program equips you to become a music teacher for elementary and secondary schools. The Hartt Music Education Division provides one of the country's most thorough curricula. Blending demanding conservatory instruction with fundamental music education principles, the program readies you for a teaching career in school music programs. Beyond general music, choral, and instrumental instruction, music education students learn specialized methods including Kod√°ly, Suzuki, and Orff approaches. Hartt's Master of Music Education (MMEd) programs cater to educators seeking advanced training in specific areas like conducting, Kod√°ly, or academic research. With various specialization options available, you'll develop expertise in your chosen focus area.
The Research track equips students for advanced music education research and lays the groundwork for doctoral (DMA or PhD) studies. This emphasis requires completion of a thesis project.
