The Master of Music in Music Education is tailored for practicing music educators. This program enhances your instructional abilities in music. Note that our MM in Music Education programs don't automatically qualify graduates for teaching certification. We provide initial licensure courses for various Nevada music teaching credentials, which can be taken alongside or independently of the MM degree. Those pursuing initial licensure, whether combined with the MM or not, must also complete the Professional Certificate program through the College of Education and Human Development.
The General Music Education Master of Music program serves current music teachers. Applicants to any MM in Music Education program must provide a teaching demonstration video as part of the admission process.
Our music department holds membership in the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Furthermore, our music education program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), which promotes excellence in teacher training through rigorous accreditation standards focused on improving P-12 student outcomes.
