This program equips students with the skills to instruct ballet across all age groups within professional and academic dance settings. It focuses on teaching methodologies, theoretical foundations, and diverse approaches to both ballet and contemporary dance. The ballet pedagogy specialization aims to develop educators capable of teaching at elite institutions, preparing them for top-tier dance education careers. Participants learn to instruct students of all ages in conservatory and university environments, with a robust curriculum centered on educational frameworks and dance theory spanning various techniques and traditions - from introductory pre-ballet to advanced coaching. The pedagogy component combines academic coursework with hands-on teaching experiences through internships at The Hartt School Community Division and local public schools. Pedagogy students actively engage in performance opportunities alongside Hartt's dance majors. This curriculum cultivates well-rounded dance educators who will contribute meaningfully to their communities throughout their professional lives.
You can apply if you are currently enrolled in high school or secondary school, or if you have completed high school or secondary school, but have not started a degree.
You will be required to present the following results: 2.75 (out of 4.0); 3.75 (out of 5.0); 80% (out of 100); 70% (out of 100) India/Canada.
