Those enrolling in the program should have a blend of technical, artistic, and academic skills with a passion for dance.
The Dance curriculum provides chances for participants to perform in the program's 622-seat Dance Theatre, along with national and international touring opportunities. Seasonal highlights feature the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre performance, where students present pieces created by faculty and visiting artists, plus a student choreography exhibition guided and evaluated by dance instructors. Additional regular activities include MFA Dance Capstone projects, involvement with Yonder Contemporary Dance Company, and participation in both the Alabama Dance Festival and the American College Dance Association's yearly conference.
