The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Dance program develops students as both performers and instructors, emphasizing that practical teaching experience is vital preparation. Our graduates bring their enthusiasm for dance to learners of all ages across diverse educational environments. The BA in Dance provides two specialized tracks that equip students to teach in various dance contexts, from PreK-12 schools to community programs and recreational centers. BA Dance students complete much of their coursework alongside BFA Dance majors.
Our Dance Division fosters an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and backgrounds, encompassing gender, sexuality, ability, age, economic status, ethnicity, race, and cultural heritage.
We provide comprehensive dance education by nurturing multifaceted understanding of the art form. Our approach strengthens the mind-body connection and technical skills, fosters creativity and analytical thinking, deepens awareness of dance's historical and cultural significance worldwide, and promotes active citizenship. We maintain our commitment to anti-bias and anti-racist education, continuously updating curriculum and course materials to ensure representation and inclusion for all.
