Dance students receive rigorous training in modern dance techniques, supplemented by diverse dance genres and somatic practices to enhance their technical skills. The program explores dance history and aesthetics from a worldwide viewpoint, along with creative choreography, teaching methods, and performance preparation that leads to numerous stage opportunities, connecting artists with broader communities to create, refine, and present their work. This interdisciplinary major emphasizes dance's transformative role in society.
Graduates are equipped for advanced studies in MFA or PhD dance programs, as well as careers such as: Professional Dancer, Choreographer, Dance Teacher, Movement Therapist, Studio Owner, Mind-Body Practitioner (e.g., Pilates, Yoga), Artistic Leader, Costume or Lighting Designer, Production Stage Manager, Arts Administrator, or Venue Coordinator. Students can tailor their studies for careers in related areas including: Wellness & Fitness, Medical Fields (e.g., Arts Medicine), Arts Policy, Brand Promotion, Media Relations, Cinematography, or Digital Arts.
If you have successfully completed your high school degree (12 years of primary and secondary education), you are considered an undergraduate student at CSU.
