The inaugural vertical dance class launched in spring 1999, co-instructed by Humphrey and Margaret Wilson, who transitioned from APL to Assistant Professor in Theatre & Dance. This pioneering course covered essential safety protocols, rigging techniques, and vertical choreography concepts.
Vertical II debuted in spring 2000, focusing on the mathematical and physical principles behind rigging systems and anchor configurations. Participants in Vertical II develop custom rigging setups for vertical performances and craft accompanying choreography for public showcases.
The University of Wyoming's Theatre and Dance program regularly presents vertical dance performances in both indoor and outdoor venues.
