You'll explore the emergence of American industrialization and the evolution of labor movements, global conflicts and America's expanding role in international relations, the effects of immigration, the origins and rapid expansion of popular culture, and efforts to expand democratic rights to marginalized communities. Our Bachelor of Arts in history provides insight into historical patterns and contexts, moving beyond simple memorization. Through coursework and experiential learning, you'll gain skills applicable to diverse career paths including business, legal professions, teaching, social services, nonprofit sectors, museum curation, and creative fields.
Most history courses fall into three regional focus areas: U.S. history, European history, and Asian/Middle Eastern history. For optimal undergraduate preparation or if considering graduate studies in history, we highly recommend joining the University Honors program and potentially completing a senior thesis. Faculty mentors will assist in crafting specialized study plans featuring relevant honors courses while guiding independent research projects and thesis work.
You can apply if you are currently enrolled in high school or secondary school, or if you have completed high school or secondary school, but have not started a degree.
You will be required to present the following results: 2.75 (out of 4.0); 3.75 (out of 5.0); 80% (out of 100); 70% (out of 100) India/Canada.
