The Comparative Biomedical Sciences MS program educates students in biomedical research with a strong focus on cross-disciplinary methods for studying animal and human health. Graduates will gain foundational knowledge in comparative biomedical sciences within specialized tracks such as physiology and pharmacology, pathology, infectious diseases, population health, or veterinary biosciences and diagnostic imaging.
This college-wide MS program is overseen by the Office of the Dean through the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Affairs. It welcomes both professionals with degrees in healthcare fields and graduate students with robust biological training. Additional study options include Avian Medicine, Food Animal Medicine, and Zoological Medicine, with the latter exclusively for veterinarians accepted into UGA's residency program.
Designed to be completed in 2-3 years, this research-intensive program fosters interdisciplinary learning, translational research, professional development, and biomedical education to equip students for impactful roles in modern biomedical and veterinary sciences.
Eligible applicants include those with bachelor's degrees as well as holders of professional degrees (DVM, MD, DDS).
Pathology is fundamental to understanding animal and human health. As the science of disease processes and diagnosis, it is vital for detecting and managing conditions that impact public health.
Our work spans various settings—from microscopes where we analyze tissue samples from sick animals, to laboratories where we conduct disease research and develop treatments, to classrooms where we teach veterinary students about disease mechanisms.
