The Department of Classics provides Master of Arts programs specializing in Latin, Greek, or a combined study of both classical languages. Our graduates have earned distinguished scholarships and awards, pursuing successful careers in education at elementary and secondary levels, as well as doctoral studies at top-tier institutions. We've carefully designed our graduate programs to meet diverse student aspirations while effectively advancing their professional ambitions. The M.A. curriculum establishes a solid foundation in classical studies, focusing particularly on developing language proficiency, historical understanding, archaeological knowledge, and analytical interpretation. Students join us from across the nation, with typical enrollment of 12-15 during the academic year plus another 12-15 in our Summer Institute - a unique program enabling high school Latin teachers to complete their M.A. degree through summer sessions.
