The Master of Arts in Latin enables students to concentrate on studies in Latin literature and culture. This program is ideal for individuals aiming to advance to doctoral studies in Classics. Those selecting this path should note that Ph.D. programs in Classics demand substantial proficiency in Greek. Prospective secondary school educators must verify they complete sufficient Latin coursework to meet certification standards set by schools or states. The Department provides multiple graduate tracks for both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. The M.A. curricula equip students for doctoral studies in classical disciplines, though with distinct approaches and differing prerequisites. The Ph.D. program caters to more experienced scholars, training them for academic careers in research and instruction at secondary and higher education institutions.
