The Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Interiors provides two specialized tracks within its Ph.D. program: Polymer, Fiber & Textile Sciences and International Merchandising. The Polymer, Fiber & Textile Sciences concentration enables students to conduct cutting-edge research in this scientific field. Meanwhile, the International Merchandising track focuses on advanced study of global apparel retailing, worldwide production and trade, international sourcing strategies, cross-border business operations, and digital commerce in international markets.
Graduate studies in the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Interiors lead to either Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The Ph.D. curriculum supports academic exploration in both Polymer, Fiber and Textile Sciences and International Merchandising. Candidates complete departmental core requirements along with supplementary coursework in statistics and their chosen specialization. All doctoral candidates must successfully defend a dissertation.
