A PhD is typically necessary for research roles, specialist positions, and almost always mandatory for academic faculty appointments. This degree represents focused education in a specific discipline. The program mandates a dissertation plus at least 30 consecutive course hours, with 16 hours exclusively for graduate students. To fulfill residency requirements, students must complete two back-to-back semesters of full-time study on campus (equivalent to 30 consecutive course hours included in the study plan).
